Hey future board member!We want to introduce WOA and the different open positions to you and learn about your motivation.At Women of Aalto (WOA) we focus on equality and inclusivity at Aalto University. Our slogan says it quite perfectly: No one of quality is afraid of equality. As the board we redesigned the association last year from a top-down organization where the board decides what is good for the community to a bottom-up and proactive community where the WOA community of more than 240 people. Equality can be represented in so many diverse ways and at WOA we provide resources and support for everone to conduct projects they have at heart. We aim for a diverse community from both demographic (age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, etc.) and cognitive (study background, work experience, etc.) perspectives. Our goal is to empower individuals and offer opportunities to grow, learn and network.
What you do as a board member?
You are the lead according to you position but also stay closely involved with volunteers, projects, and the community. For example, as the treasurer, you are responsible for financial statement reporting but also to help the volunteers to understand how to apply for the KY grands. (No worries, you don't need to know that now. We will onboard you very well). As a board member you gain important leadership skills and learn how an organization works. It is truly adventorous and you learn a lot of hard and soft skills that can shine on your CV.
