  • This Driver Ed class is CHAPEL HILL /CARRBORO HIGH SCHOOL students
  • Classes are limited to 42 students based on the student's age and grade in high school
  • The qualifiers to register for the class are:
  • Students must be 14y 6m on the first day of class
  • Attending the ten days of class are mandatory.  This will meet the NC requirment of 30-hours of classroom.
  • Pass DMV medical/vision screening offered by JDSC certified staff (Date TBD)
  • Take and pass all offered tests, quizzes and final exam
  • If you/your student cannot meet the requirements above, then this is not the class for them and they select a class at a later date.
  • The six hours of NC required driving sessions will be assigned oldest to youngest, class by class.  This could be 3-4 months after the class is over.
  • Best practice for a successful experience is usage via computer.  This is a Zoom based class.  Cell phones and tablets do not provide the best access to testing and following of the presentations.
  • CONFIRMATIONS:   Once this registration is completed, you will receive an automated return email of receipt.  You will receive other emails in the next week to ten days.
  • The next confirmation will be confirming email addresses - When completing registration, please confirm all email addresses.  You will receive an email confirming all registered emails.  Please double check email addresses.  STUDENTS NEED A NON-SCHOOL ISSUED EMAIL ADDRESS.  i.e:  @gmail.com;  @icloud.com; @yahoo.com
  • The next edit is checking the ages.  The student must be 14.5 yrs. on the first day of class.  We use the AGE CALCULATOR -  If birthday is after JUNE 6, 2011, they are too young for the class.  This is enforced!
  • Another edit are addresses, confirming the student resides in the CHCCS school district.  
  • Registration edits are not a simple process and takes time to complete.   If you know if you do not meet any of the edits, please do not register.  Please be patient with this process.  If you need to register a twin or sibling, please put the note in the next to the last question box.  Send Ms. Garmon an email with the 2nd student's information to be added to the class.
  • Chapel Hill/Carrboro Schools offers Driver Education classes to high school students through a private contractor, Jordan Driving School of the Carolinas (JDSC).  The program is structured by NC DMV and JDSC upholds all regulations of the NC DMV Driver Education program.  Driver Education is considered an after school activity and at this time remains a virtual Zoom class.  Your Driver Ed School Coordinators can assist with any questions:
